Today, most chandan available in the market is not real chandan. It is often mixed with artificial fragrance, chemical binders, and fillers to reduce cost. Many Hindus slowly stopped applying chandan tilak because it heats the skin, causes irritation, or feels unnatural. Slowly, a practice meant to calm the mind and center devotion started fading. We did not want our chandan to be one of those reasons.
When Hindus stop applying chandan because of poor quality and discomfort, it is not just a ritual that breaks — a calming connection with Dharma weakens.
